GALLERY 2
In late November '08, Amy and I went on a 10-day camping tour of New Zealand. We had an awesome time driving a clockwise route around South Island and up the center of North Island. I'm weeding out the best photos but there are still enough for several galleries. I'll mention the highways below so you can google along if you'd like. :) DAY 4: Milford Sound day! This was by far my biggest single-day photo collection, so it's getting its own gallery. We drove Highway 94 (the only way in and out) to Milford Sound, took an extrememly windy boat cruise for a couple hours, drove back to Te Anau, and then continued on to Queenstown via Highways 94, 97, and 6. We spent the night at 12-mile Delta, a DOC campground where some of Lord of the Rings was filmed. Photos here include the Fiordland scenery headed into Milford Sound (amazing!!), the sound itself, and then the scenery headed back towards Te Anau and on to Queenstown. We kicked the day off surrounded at our campground by two other Spaceships. The parrots featured are keas (the damn things will eat cars, shoes, etc. :p). Also featured are Lady Bowen Falls, Mitre Peak, and the Homer Tunnel (really long, steep grade, and only one lane). I played around with the sepia on my camera too while we were out on the sound and got some cool shots. |
